D-99084 Erfurt: Internationales Folklorefestival Danetzare

"Danetzare" is the name of the international folklore festival in Erfurt that exists since 1996 and takes part every two years in the capital of Thuringia. The term comes from middle Latin and means "to amuse on the dancing ground". The festival is organised by the honorary work of the members of the Thüringer Folklore Ensemble Erfurt e.V. and the department of culture of the city of Erfurt.

The medieval locations like Anger, Domplatz, Fischmarkt, Rathausplatz and Wenigemarkt provide a perfect ambience for the dancing performances.

Cultures and people from all over the world meet there for five days and elate the audience with traditional dance, music and costume. The Danetzare festival differs from other events, because of its high artistic requirement and the good quality of presented programmes with authentic and stylized representation. The focus is on preserving the traditions and to live the idea of cosmopolitanism, international understanding and hospitality, as well as the interaction of different cultures.
